Travel Itinerary

12-Day Silk Road Tour: Qinghai, Gansu & Xinjiang from Xining to Kashgar

Airport pick-up service and visit to Kumbum Monastery, one of the most sacred Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Qinghai. Overnight in Xining.

Drive to Qinghai Lake, visit Erlangjian Scenic Area along the lakeshore, and continue to Chaka Town in the evening. Overnight in Chaka Town.

Visit the famous Chaka Salt Lake, known as the Sky Mirror, in the morning. Return to Xining and take a scenic train to Zhangye with panoramic views of the Qilian Mountains. Overnight in Zhangye.

Visit the Great Buddha Temple and Zhangye Danxia National Geopark, famous for its stunning rainbow-colored rock formations. Continue by road to Jiayuguan in the afternoon. Overnight in Jiayuguan.

Visit the Jiayuguan Pass, the western end of the Great Wall, and the Overhanging Great Wall. Drive across the Gobi Desert to Dunhuang. Overnight in Dunhuang.

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Mogao Grottoes with ancient Buddhist murals, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. Optional visit to the lively Shazhou Night Market in the evening. Overnight in Dunhuang.

Visit Yumenguan Pass on the ancient Silk Road, then take a high-speed train to Turpan. Private transfer service at the railway station. Overnight in Turpan.

Visit the Jiaohe Ancient City Ruins, the traditional Karez Well irrigation system and the historic Emin Minaret. Continue by road to Urumqi. Overnight in Urumqi.

Visit the Xinjiang Regional Museum in the morning, then take a day trip to the alpine Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) in the Tianshan Mountains. Return to Urumqi in the evening. Overnight in Urumqi.

Take a domestic flight to Kashgar. Visit the old town of Kashgar, Id Kah Mosque and a traditional local teahouse. Livestock market visit is available on Sundays only. Overnight in Kashgar.

Drive along the Pamir Plateau to Karakul Lake, passing the stunning White Sand Lake and snow-capped Muztagh Ata peak. Return to Kashgar in the evening. Overnight in Kashgar.

Complete hotel check-out and enjoy private transfer to Kashgar Airport for your departure flight.
