5-Day Beijing, Chengde & Inner Mongolia Grassland Private Tour
Meet your guide at Beijing airport or train station and transfer to your downtown hotel. Visit the Forbidden City, the world's largest imperial palace complex with 600 years of history. Afterwards, climb Jingshan Park for a full panoramic view of the palace rooftops. In the afternoon, explore the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of ancient Chinese imperial architecture. End the day with a stroll along Wangfujing pedestrian street before returning to your hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Badaling Great Wall, the most famous and best-preserved section of the Great Wall of China. Spend around 2 hours exploring the wall at your own pace, with the option to take the cable car for easier access and sweeping views. Then visit Dingling Underground Palace at the Ming Tombs, the only excavated imperial tomb of the Ming Dynasty. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then continue the scenic drive to Chengde, arriving in the evening and checking in to your hotel.
In the morning, visit Chengde Mountain Resort, the largest imperial garden in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site, once the summer retreat of Qing Dynasty emperors. In the afternoon, explore Putuo Zongcheng Temple, also known as the Little Potala Palace, a stunning Tibetan-style Buddhist temple. After sightseeing, drive to Ulan Butong Grassland in Inner Mongolia, check in to a local grassland resort and enjoy a beautiful grassland sunset.
Wake early for an optional grassland sunrise over the rolling steppes. Spend the full day exploring the vast grassland: visit General's Lake, Princess Lake, the famous Film and TV Base, and Panlong Canyon. You can walk through meadows, experience optional horse riding, or take an off-road vehicle for deeper exploration. Watch a magnificent grassland sunset in the evening before returning to your resort.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time on the grassland to take in the fresh air and scenery. After lunch, drive back to Beijing. Your guide and driver will drop you off at the airport or train station according to your schedule, ending your 5-day North China journey.
