8:00–11:00 Visit the Forbidden City (Palace Museum)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site (1987) and the world’s largest, best-preserved ancient wooden imperial complex, built 1406–1420. It served 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for nearly 500 years.
  • Scale: Covers 720,000 sqm with about 9,999 and a half halls and rooms, laid out symmetrically along Beijing’s central axis.
  • Outer Court: Centered on the Hall of Supreme Harmony (China’s largest imperial wooden hall for grand ceremonies), Hall of Central Harmony and Hall of Preserving Harmony.
