8:00–11:00 Visit Huaqing Palace

Huaqing Palace, also known as Huaqing Hot Springs, is a famous imperial garden with a history of over 3,000 years. First built in the early Tang Dynasty, it reached its peak during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong, who renamed it “Huaqing Palace” and visited almost every October.
  • Romantic Legend: Famous for the eternal love story between Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei (Concubine Yang), immortalized in the classic poem Song of Everlasting Sorrow.
  • Historical Site: Witnessed the 1936 Xi’an Incident, a turning point in modern Chinese history; the historical allusion “Beacon Fires to Fool the Feudal Lords” also originated here.
  • Scenic Highlights: Imperial hot spring pools, Lishan Mountain scenery, ancient palace buildings, and cultural relics of the Tang Dynasty.

12:00–17:00 Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum (Terracotta Army)

Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, this is the mausoleum of the first emperor who unified China, with a rigorous layout and grand scale.
  • National Status: Designated as one of the first batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level in 1961.
  • World Heritage: Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987 (including the Terracotta Army Pits).
  • Core Highlights:
    • Pit 1: The largest pit with about 6,000 life-sized warriors and horses in a neat battle formation.

8:00–11:00 Visit Qianling Mausoleum

Qianling Mausoleum is a National 5A Tourist Attraction and National Archaeological Site Park, located on Liang Mountain, 6 km north of Qian County, Xianyang, about 76 km from Xi’an.
  • Unique Value: The only mausoleum in the world where two emperors (Emperor Gaozong of Tang and Wu Zetian, China’s only female emperor) of a couple are buried together.
  • Well-preserved: The only unexcavated and unrobbed mausoleum among the 18 Tang Dynasty imperial tombs.
  • Scenic Highlights:
    • Wordless Stele: A 7.5-meter-high stele with no inscriptions, letting later generations judge Wu Zetian’s merits and demerits.
    • 述圣纪碑 (Monument of Sage Achievement): Inscribed with Emperor Gaozong’s achievements, written by Wu Zetian.

  • Long History: First built around 68 AD (Eastern Han Dynasty), originally named “Ashoka Temple”; renamed Famen Temple in the Tang Dynasty and became a royal temple.
  • Sacred Relic: Enshrines the world’s only authentic Buddha finger relic, worshipped by eight Tang emperors six times.
  • Archaeological Miracle: In 1987, its underground palace was discovered, unearthing 4 Buddha finger relics and 2,499 Tang Dynasty royal treasures (gold and silver wares, silk fabrics, porcelain), shocking the world.
  • Scenic Highlights: 148-meter-high Heshi Relic Pagoda, 1230-meter Buddha Light Avenue, ancient temple buildings, and the treasure museum displaying Tang royal relics.

Located at the foot of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in Yanta District, Xi’an, it is China’s only large-scale pedestrian street themed on the prosperous Tang Dynasty culture.
  • Cultural Experience: Grand Tang-style architecture, giant sculptures of Tang poets and emperors, street performances (Tang dances, poetry recitals), and intangible cultural heritage displays.
