Xi'an & Pingyao Ancient City 4-Day Private Cultural Tour
Arrive in Xi'an and meet your guide at the airport or railway station. Drive to Lintong to visit the world-famous Terracotta Army Museum, exploring Pit 1, Pit 2, Pit 3 and the Bronze Chariots Hall. Visit Huaqing Palace, a historic Tang Dynasty imperial garden and the site of the Xi'an Incident. Return to downtown Xi'an in the evening and enjoy local snacks at the Muslim Quarter.
Walk or cycle on the Xi'an City Wall, the best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Daci'en Temple to learn about Buddhist history and Monk Xuanzang's pilgrimage. Stroll through the Tang Dynasty Ever-bright City pedestrian street. In the evening, enjoy the dazzling light shows and street performances.
Take the morning high-speed train from Xi'an to Pingyao (approx. 2.5 hours). Check in to a traditional courtyard inn inside the ancient city. Walk along the Ancient City Wall for a panoramic view of the tile-roofed old town. Visit Rishengchang Draft Bank, China's first banking institution, and explore the underground vault at Xie Tongqing Money Shop. Wander through Ming-Qing Street and admire the historic city tower at sunset.
Visit Pingyao Yamen (ancient county government) to watch a traditional court performance. Head to Shuanglin Temple, known as the "Oriental Gallery of Colored Sculptures" to view exquisite ancient Buddhist art. Optional extension to the grand Wang Family Compound. Transfer to Pingyao Railway Station for your departure train in the afternoon.
