5-Day Beijing, Chengde & Datong Private Heritage Tour

Arrive in Beijing and meet your English-speaking guide at the airport or railway station. Visit Tiananmen Square and explore the Forbidden City, the world's largest imperial palace complex. Climb Jingshan Park for a full panoramic view of the palace grounds. In the evening, stroll through Nanluoguxiang hutong alley to experience authentic local Beijing street life.

After breakfast, drive to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, one of the best-preserved and most scenic sections. Take the cable car up and walk along the ancient fortifications. Return to downtown Beijing in the afternoon, then take the high-speed train to Chengde (approx. 1 hour). Check in to your hotel and relax for the evening.

Spend a full day exploring the UNESCO-listed Chengde Imperial Mountain Resort, a vast Qing Dynasty royal retreat with palaces, lakes and traditional gardens. In the afternoon, visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple, known as the "Little Potala Palace", and Puning Temple with its towering wooden Buddha statue.

Take the morning high-speed train from Chengde to Datong via Beijing transfer (total approx. 3.5 hours). Meet your local English guide upon arrival, then visit the UNESCO-listed Yungang Grottoes. Admire the 1,500-year-old rock-cut Buddha statues and exquisite Northern Wei Dynasty Buddhist art.

Visit the iconic Hanging Temple, a 1,400-year-old architectural marvel clinging to the cliff of Mount Heng. Continue to Yingxian County to see the world's oldest all-wooden pagoda at Fogong Temple. Transfer to Datong Railway Station or airport for your departure, or return to Beijing to conclude the tour.
